Biochemical and Anatomical Characteristics of Basmati And Non-basmati Rice (Oryza Sativa L.) For Resistance To Foot Rot

نویسندگان

چکیده

Fusarium fujikuroi, the causal agent of foot rot disease, infects all parts rice, causing serious yield losses in different world. In order to understand basis disease tolerance, various biochemical and anatomical traits ten days old healthy infected basmati non-basmati rice seedlings were compared. Total soluble sugar content was higher seedlings, while total phenols, orthodihydroxy phenols proteins post infection indicating initiation defence against pathogen. Increase antioxidant activity, enzymes α-tocopherols cultivars indicate oxidative stress created by Histopathological observations revealed hyphal conidial growth tissues whereas a complete intact tissue observed counterparts cultivars. Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of White Ponni, a non-basmati variety of indica rice (Oryza sativa L.)

We report successful Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of a popular rice variety White Ponni, a non-basmati indica rice (Oryza sativa L.). Scutellumderived calluses of White Ponni were transformed with Agrobacterium strain LBA4404 (pSB1) harbouring the binary vector pMKU-RF2 with rice chi11 gene. Five independent transgenic White Ponni plants were ge nerated from hygromycin-resistant callus...

Root Associated Bacillus sp. Improves Growth, Yield and Zinc Translocation for Basmati Rice (Oryza sativa) Varieties

Plant associated rhizobacteria prevailing in different agro-ecosystems exhibit multiple traits which could be utilized in various aspect of sustainable agriculture. Two hundred thirty four isolates were obtained from the roots of basmati-385 and basmati super rice varieties growing in clay loam and saline soil at different locations of Punjab (Pakistan). Out of 234 isolates, 27 were able to sol...

Isolation and molecular characterization of the COP1 gene homolog from rice, Oryza sativa L. subsp. Indica var. Pusa Basmati 1.

The COP1 (CONSTITUTIVE PHOTOMORPHOGENIC 1) gene has been identified earlier from dicot species namely Arabidopsis, tomato and pea. The protein encoded by this gene acts as a molecular switch that negatively regulates the transition from the skotomorphogenic to the photomorphogenic mode of plant development. We have isolated and characterized the COP1 homolog from a monocot species, i.e. rice (v...

Concentration dependent rheological behaviour of promising basmati and non basmati rice flour

Rice is predominantly a starch richendosperm portionof paddy (Oryza sativa). It is an important cereal used as staple food by over half of the world population. About 90% of dry matter of milled rice is starch and the rest are non-starch components like protein, lipids and ash. Most of the rice based products in Indian sub continent especially in southern part of India are made from rice flour ...

Capillary electrophoresis is essential for microsatellite marker based detection and quantification of adulteration of Basmati rice (Oryza sativa).

Microsatellite markers are employed for genotyping of Basmati varieties and assaying purity of market samples. However, employment of diverse electrophoresis techniques across laboratories has resulted in inconsistent allele sizes, creating doubts about the suitability of the assay. This study evaluated agarose gel electrophoresis, slab gel electrophoresis, and capillary electrophoresis techniq...
